A RISING TIDE

The much-delayed Excon 2021 finally took place from May 17-21, 2022. And to what a reception! It rained the day before the trade fair was to open and continued to do so the first three days, thus playing spoilsport to plans, while in the bargain disfiguring some of the outdoor stalls that were on the periphery. In spite of this, visitors braved the weather to attend South Asia's largest trade fair for the construction equipment. In order to make up for what could be counted as a loss, the organisers, CII, offered to extend the fair for one more day, which came as a relief to those who missed out on Day 2 as most of the outdoor exhibitors were compelled to close for the day.

Organisers expected nearly 70-80,000 visitors to flock the exhibition. While the figures are not yet in, we did see large crowds across the 300,000m2 of display. Then there were exhibitors also spread across the four massive halls at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC).
