OVER the last decade, the global pharma landscape has been evolving rapidly and the focus has shifted from the generics business to the specialty generics business.

Today, we see many opportunities in the different markets in different therapeutic areas. If we look at the oncology segment, the size of the market is about $100 million to $120 million and is growing at about 9 to 12 per cent. Similar opportunities exist in the areas of autoimmune diseases and viral diseases. The market for HIV itself is about $20 million to $30 million with 11 – 14 per cent growth. There are many more areas where the market exists which present the opportunity to create products catering to these areas, service few customers and through that develop a portfolio.
