An Ode To The Trinity

What came first? Prakriti, Sanskriti or Brahmand? The divine chronology suggests that the evolution of nature happened before anything else. Humanity was born under its prevalence, followed by the development of mind and culture.

Trimurti, Tridevi or the consorts of the Tridev-reverberating with their power of wisdom, creation andpreservation, we have known them as Saraswati, Lakshmi and Parvati. We also know them as the feminine symbols of origination, fulfilment and destruction. Apart from inspiring our scriptures and envisioning our way of life they have also been a source of cadence for the mind, body and soul. Their distinguished characters, powers and demeanour can lend direction to every aspect of our existence – including our dressing style.

Inspiration is a gamut of twinkling influences that can be drawn not just for the body but also for the soul. And the Goddesses exemplify this truth. It is believed that if a woman immerses herself in Tridevi’s spiritual teachings in amassing the spiritual learnings of being a creator, nurturer and destroyer her character shall be endowed with eternal marital bliss. Thus a bride has the power to create the world, provide for its nourishment and transform it to maintain the multiplicity of life. Even as the supreme power is known to be ‘Nirakaar’, to give shape to our faiths deities are visualised as living bodies adorned with effervescent paraphernalia and jewellery.

Saraswati

Goddess Saraswati is the mythological personification of the river Saraswati. However, many other schools of thought point her origin to Brahma’s meditation. Her embodiment as the wife of Brahma is unknown and ambiguous to many. The name Saraswati can be outlined from two Sanskrit words ‘Saras’ meaning flow and ‘Wati’ meaning woman or flowing water. She’s the symbol of knowledge, learning and wisdom. Metaphorically she can be observed as the Goddess of extended learnings in the form of art and music, creativity, consciousness and enlightenment.
