VW’s iconic 23-window hippie-hauler comes to RC as a quick-handling fun-runner
The Tamiya Volkswagen Type 2 (T1) is an impressive scale replica of the iconic VW bus, built on Tamiya’s proven M-06 chassis. This particular bus is the Samba version (also known as the “Sunroof Deluxe”), which was the most “luxurious” Type 2 and was known for its many unique features, including 23 windows, two pivot side doors, and fabric sun roof, and the “hat” over the windshield to block the sun from the driver’s eyes. As usual, Tamiya has gone above and beyond to duplicate these details and more. Even the chassis is correct for the bus, at least in layout if not appearance. Like the full-size Type 2, the M06 chassis is rear-motor and rear-wheel drive. Nice!
