The Citroën exhibit was the bigger one of the two, with the 19_19 concept taking centre stage. This year, Citroën celebrates the centenary of its automotive operations that began on June 4, 1919 and the 19_19 concept is an outcome of that celebration. It is also Citroën’s vision of what their automobile of 2119 could look like from the perspective of its design chief Pierre Leclercq. We are told, “The 19_19 is a leisure vehicle that shows how you will take road trips in the future.”

The 19_19 features innovative seating on the inside that is nothing short of a comfortable, designer sofa set. The exterior is inspired by aviation, featuring a smooth and seamless silhouette for the passenger cell that mimics jet cockpits. Citroën 19_19 is a vision of the future, but its performance figures are very much in line with today’s electric powertrains - achieving a naught to 100kmph sprint of 5s flat, and a top speed of 200kmph with its 456PS/800Nm dual-motor electric powertrain. The range is a claimed 800km.
