Hero MotoCorp’s first offering in the 125cc scooter space is a bundle of value, but can it take the fight to established rivals?

- Abhishek Samuel

Hero Destini 125

Hero MotoCorp calls the Destini 125 a family premium scooter, the kind that will go up against the established competition of the segment including the Honda Activa 125 and the Suzuki Access 125. So here we are, with a very quick ride through the streets of New Delhi, does the Hero’s first 125cc offering have what it takes to jostle for space with its popular rivals? Let’s find out.

How does it look?

The Destini 125 was shown as the Duet 125 at the 2018 Auto Expo. Hero MotoCorp has tried to play it safe with a design that should find appeal within its target ‘family premium’ space. This entails smooth, flowy lines and swathes of chrome on an all-metal body. The largish panel on the front apron is called a ‘chrome chest’. And then there are the chrome accents on the side panels, as well as a large 3D Destini 125 logo.

The lamp set-up is very similar to the Duet 110. You will also find new honeycomb pattern graphics in the corners of the turn indicators as well as on the dual-textured seat. But there were no LED lights which could lend it a more modern touch.

The Destini 125 is available in four metallic-only paint options, Chestnut Bronze, Panther Black, Pearl Silver White, and Noble Red. Our review vehicle had the latter and it looks rather sophisticated matched with blacked-out cast alloy wheels on the higher VX trim.
