FCA now makes and sells Jeeps globally, including the Jeep Compass which is manufactured at its Ranjangaon facility near Pune. But as many are aware, the legend of the Jeep began in World War II when not one, but three different car makers – Bantam, Ford and Willys-Overland – started building Jeeps for the war effort. The Jeep was a huge success and President Eisenhower apparently even said, “The Jeep is one of three decisive weapons the U.S. had during WWII”.
