Lexus ES - An Excellent Left-Field Option In The Luxury Sedan Segment

The word "smooth' doesn't quite cover just how refined the ES facelift is
You know that feeling of satisfaction when a song comes on that matches the moment? As Smooth by Carlos Santana and Rob Thomas sounded off from the Lexus ES 300h's sweet-sounding Mark Levinson sound system, I realised that such a moment had arrived. Everything about the way that the ES 300h drives seems to say, 'Chill out, calm down, and take it easy.' And that's exactly what this luxury sedan is all about. Oh wait, there's one aspect that's not about serenity, and that's the way it looks.
Lexus does call this a facelift, but I found it a little difficult to pinpoint precisely what was different about it. A very close look revealed that the ES 300h now has what looks like a 3-D grille, slightly reshaped headlights, and new 18-inch alloy wheels. Now, I like these new alloys but I have to admit I still have a soft spot for the older model's dynamic-looking wheels. Still, the ES — with it's coupe-like roofline and sharp angles — will turn heads. It is a proper Lexus after all.

Although some features may be missing, you won't have much to complain about in the ES 300h's cabin

Sport sharpens the drive, but Normal works best

The touchpad controller is tactile and accurate

2025 KTM 390 ADVENTURE
What makes a perfect shot? It's a cocktail of many elements — the right settings, correct gear, and a great environment. But more often than not, the defining factor behind a killer image is a giant pair of cojones — belonging equally to rider and photographer. Naturally, a few loose screws help, too. Thankfully, and rather coincidentally, Manaal and I align on this philosophy. How else would he willingly hoist a 21-inch wheel right up to my wide-angle lens, trusting that neither of us will cross paths catastrophically? We do have enough screws in the right places to not swap positions... Well, at least, that's what we tell ourselves.
