Today’s competitive business scenario calls for developing leaders and managers to drive organisations as well as creation of world class infrastructure facilities to nurture future leaders.
As part of this endeavour, International Automotive Components (IAC) has been focusing on employee training in a big way.
Recently it has unveiled a unique training module for its employees. The new training centre was first installed at its Changshu facility near Shanghai in China last year. The Changshu plant was inaugurated in 2014 and initially it faced difficulties in finding workers as the local labour force was from the other industry, where the quality and systematic approach were not key imperatives. To highlight the salient features of the new training process, IAC invited journalist from India, including Auto Components India. The main reason behind setting up the training centre is that the company believes the success in the globalised scenario is based on identifying and removing inefficiencies in material and man management.
According to Jeffery Chen, Operation Director of IAC China and GM IAC Changshu plant, there is a need to invest in technology, create capacities, implement efficient production systems and build competencies of people which can only be achieved through specialised training. This is where the new training centre plays a vital role. The company also employs the Japanese methodology of TQM (Total Quality Management), it roots out inefficiencies through countermeasures including ensuring quality at source, moving from inspection to assurance and building stability in the manufacturing process. The company sees a huge difference in the work force after the training. IAC is working on to expand the China training model on a global scale.
