Visitors to Dubai’s Al Bastakiya and many other of the Middle East’s long-established areas will be familiar with the wind tower – an ingenious, effective and distinctive device that has provided cooling to millions of people over many thousands of years.
Also known as a wind catcher, the wind tower creates natural ventilation within a building by allowing hot air to rise out the top, and cooler directed winds to flow down inside.
