Neelam Magazine - May 2025

The fundamental aim of the Neelam magazine is to foster a deep understanding and discussion of the social, political, and cultural spaces of Dalit communities. It seeks to create a platform not only to talk about Dalits but to discuss everything. This does not mean that the magazine will only talk about Dalits or that only they should contribute. Rather, it aims to develop a unique perspective that interprets everything from a Dalit viewpoint.

We wish to focus not only on short stories, poems, and essays related to art and literature but also on painting, music, performing arts, traditions, and the personalities associated with them. Neelam aims to create a space for new voices to write and discuss these topics. At the same time, it seeks to break free from rigid, conventional forms and explore new modes of expression.

We also aim to bring attention to Ambedkar's writings, which have been reduced to mere political symbols, by engaging with them philosophically and expanding their relevance in the Tamil context.
