So, 2013/14 has finished and Liverpool ended up second in the Premier League after scoring a top-flight club record 101 goals.
A season of progress? Undoubtedly. Proud of our team? Absolutely. Gutted not to be champions? Devastated, to be honest. But going one better in the future is all the motivation we need to go again.
The June edition of The Kop features the Games for the Throne. We look at what Brendan Rodgers and his players did right and wrong during the title run-in and analyse how they can get better next year – including PFA Player of the Year and Football Writers’ Footballer of the Year Luis Suarez. He walked off with every individual accolade imaginable, but we’ll tell you how the Liverpool striker can improve and why his wife Sofia can help him do so.
Now that Liverpool have finally unveiled plans for a new Main Stand we’ve put together a handy Q&A of everything you need to know, and some things you don’t, about the proposed redevelopment and with the Kop Grandstand soon to be celebrating a 20th anniversary we’ve taken an alternative look back at its first two decades.
Chris McLoughlin writes about why Brendan Rodgers must be given greater control in the transfer market, Keith Costigan reveals how Liverpool’s title challenge has been received in America and there are strong opinions on our Dr Kop page about the manager’s tactics, an anti-Rodgers agenda and Fenway Sports Group’s financial support.
Add to that the chance to win a World Cup night out at Shooters Sports bar in Liverpool One’s Bierkeller complex, the Kop Challenge visiting Indonesia and an exclusive look at the first LFC branch of Subway and you’ll barely have time to notice the football season has finished. Until June.
The Kop. Opinion. Analysis. Comment. Humour. Passion. Roy Hodgson after botox. Gizza read.
