In the November issue of Stamp Magazine, we look back on the life and death of one of the 20th century’s most interesting monarchs through his definitive stamps. Alexander I was Regent of Serbia, and therefore a central player in the outbreak of World War I, and later the first King of Yugoslavia, trying to forge a new nation in central Europe. But it didn’t end well… On a completely different note, we examine how fossils gathered by Scott of the Antarctic played a role in proving the controversial theory of continental drift, and how stamps pull the whole story together.
