What a year! The pandemic continued to wreak havoc on creation, disrupting the programming of festivals, the travelling schedule of urban artists, and the organisation of continually postponed solo shows… After a blank year for some, the Urban Art scene is coming back to life and regaining momentum… writhing in anticipation of its imminent freedom of movement. Looking to open new doors to Urban Art and quench our thirst for elsewhere, we are ever more grateful to the muralists who embellish our cities. This special GraffitiART issue highlights fifty creators from the Urban Art scene, both famous and little-known. In the same spirit, we bring you twelve murals of the year voted by the Street Art Cities community. We also want to thank all the fans who contribute to the spirit and vitality of Urban Art. Without them, without you… our community would not be the same. Let’s keep building our community together, make it shine, and promote its legitimacy with public authorities, art commissioners, critics, and museum curators. Let’s fight for the recognition of Urban Art as a branch of contemporary art in its own right! Long live Urban Contemporary Art!
