To his fans, Lance Armstrong was the all-American hero with the Hollywood rags-to-riches story who had come back from the dead like Jesus. His patriotic Trek was a chariot that carried him to rightful victories in the Tour de France and any other race he wanted to conquer.
For the rest of the pro peloton who knew better, Armstrong’s Trek was like the menacing, black Dodge Charger belonging to the villains in the movie Bullitt.
