NBSTC contractual employees upset over pay cut decision of state government

When Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced bonus of Rs 5,300 for Civic Volunteers and ASHA workers, hundreds of contractual employees like driver, conductor, mechanic of North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) have expressed their unhappiness over the state government’s recent order to deduct Rs 2,000 from their remuneration until further order

NBSTC contractual employees upset over pay cut decision of state government

The Managing Director of NBSTC has informed the matter to all Depot in Charge on 5 October 2023 and instructed to execute the decision of the transport department, following the recent order of the Finance Department, until further order.

Notably, sixteen months ago authorities had enhanced remuneration from Rs 13,500 to 15,500 per month for several contractual employees on seniority basis.

“At present they will be getting Rs 13,500 per month following the decision of the Finance department. Contractual employees are also upset following another decision to pay back the excess amount they received,” official sources said.
