Uniform firm asks parents for 'patience'

A TEESSIDE firm that provides school uniforms and sport kits is set for a memorable May - with a new shop opening and extra orders.
But Thornaby-based embroidery and print specialists Motif8 is urging parents to be patient as demand for school uniforms soars after the recent closure of two long-standing schoolwear firms, Ross's Schoolwear and Elizabeth's Embroidery.
As a result, Motif8 is ramping up its operation - including opening a new shop, branded Tees Valley Schoolwear, in Stockton's Wellington Square.
It will be the firm's third shop, along with outlets at Motif8 HQ in Thornaby and in Stockton’s Prince Regent Street, where it trades as sister company Rawcliffes, which Motif8 bought in 2019.
But MD Chris Pomfret, who founded Motif8 in 2006 with wife Sian after both left military careers, is pleading with parents for patience as they try to cover the backlog caused by the other firms’ closures.
