SAS unleashes the dogs of war (but just to film them)

MILITARY dogs on SAS operations are to wear cameras – in a move to protect soldiers against litigation and claims of “wrongdoing”.

Troops have worn recording devices since 2018 but now man’s best friend is being trained to go further and spearhead operations while delivering a live stream for commanders to monitor.

All Special Forces strike teams will send in a highly trained dog fitted with a high-resolution lightweight camera to evaluate the situation.

The wide-angle equipment will ensure they provide a full-frame image when entering a room. 

Small  “throw-bot” devices are already in service but dogs offer a more tactical approach and, if needed, can also attack and disable the enemy.

Fitted to a harness on the backs of Belgian Malinois dogs, the  cameras – developed by the  Israeli defence company Creomagic – will provide images of who or what is in the room.
