Chip shop owner gutted as brazen thief takes charity box from counter
Stirling Observer
|April 23, 2025
The owner of a Stirling chip shop said he has been left disappointed after a brazen thief nicked a charity tin full of money for Womens' Aid from his counter.
-
The incident took place at Vincenzo's Fish and Chip Shop in the city’s Cowane Street - with CCTV images shared on the chippy’s social media showing someone waiting until staff's backs were turned before hiding the tin under a jacket and walking out.
Upon discovering the stolen tin - which raised money for Stirling and District Women’s Aid - and sharing images and video online, the chippy’s owner has been inundated with comments of sympathy, as well as anger at the crime.
Owner Vincenzo Di Carlo, who runs the shop with wife Giuliana, and regularly raises cash for charity, said it wouldn’t have been as bad if money had been taken from his till and donations saved.
