The heat is on in Cyprus for mum-on-the-run Tasha as leading actress Celine Buckens tells us more about the gripping new season of The Ex-Wife

Celine Buckens is back as a woman on the run from her estranged husband in the second series of Paramount+ show The Ex-Wife. However, fans can expect one big change to the mystery thriller – the titular ex-wife has been recast.

The first series saw new mum Tasha, played by Celine, grow suspicious of her husband Jack’s (Tom Mison) ex-wife Jen and her attempts to insert herself into their lives. However, Tasha eventually discovered that Jack was trying to use her as an unwitting surrogate and that Jack planned to reunite with Jen and take Tasha’s daughter with him.

The new series follows Tasha as she starts a new life with her daughter Emily in Cyprus away from her controlling husband Jack, who is serving time in prison.

Merlin star Katie McGrath takes on the role of Jack’s ex-wife Jen, replacing Janet Montgomery who was filming Western drama 1923 at the time.

“Katie brought a softness to Jen that I really liked,” Celine says. “I thought she was a great addition. She’s a mother and it was funny whenever she was on set, she was often checking in with her daughter – constantly getting photos and seeing what she was up to.

“It was really lovely to see that because I don’t have a kid myself. To see that in quite a bit of intimacy was nice because in whatever small way, it helped. I saw that a part of her brain was just constantly thinking of her daughter.”
