To many of you, it won't come as a surprise that the Trumpet came out on top.

TRIUMPH STREET TRIPLE 765 RS

When this bike launched back in early 2023 at Jerez, all the journos raved about what Triumph had done with the 765 Street Triple. It's no secret that I used to be involved in the development of many of the bikes Triumph produced, but the truth is that I haven't or a few years now, so when I rode the 765 at Cadwell, it was my first time on the newest version of Triumph's sub-litre naked sport bike. Also, it's important to tell you that I have no bias to Triumph when I write or test and I had the same work ethic when I worked there. If another manufacturer has done a better job, then I say so - that's how you achieve a better product. When I did this test, it was down to the best bike to win, not the bike I wanted to win; if that were so, the Ducati would be higher up!

imageThe look of the Street Triple has undergone some subtle changes in the last few years of its evolution and in my opinion remains one of the prettiest and cleanest bikes in our line-up. Everything has its place, and I don't think there are many people out there who could find much to pick at when it comes to the looks of the 765. Like the MV Agusta, the beating heart of the Triumph is a three-cylinder 765cc motor with bags of torque and more than enough horsepower to enjoy blasts out on the road or at trackdays with your mates on 1000cc sportbikes.

SPORTSBIKE SURPRISE FROM SUZUKI...2026 GSX-R1000R

Sometimes, when you see a 'new' bike in the mag, we've known about it for ages. Maybe not all the precise details, but it's been pretty obvious what's on the way and what it's likely to be all about.

RC30:HONDA'S HOMOLOGATION HERO

The A4 piece of paper on the fuel tank left there by its owner contained a potted history of the bike, the knack of how to start it, and a few of its quirks to look out for, my particular favourite being: “Front brake pads are about 20 years old, so pretty f***ed, and the rear brake does little but make the wheel dusty.\"

BSA'S BACK

Now, even we're not quite old enough to really remember BSA as a bike maker. The original firm closed down back in 1971, with the Birmingham Small Arms brand disappearing into the mess that was the British motorcycle industry back then. The name lived on through various owners and is now under Indian ownership, with the giant Mahindra conglomerate as the ultimate parent.

NEXT-GENERATION NORTON

Norton's new 1200cc sportsbike is nearly ready to break cover, and it's shaping up to be an absolute weapon. After months of whispers, blurry spy shots and internet pub-talk, the Solihull crew has just ticked off a major milestone: the big boss of TVS Motor Company, Sudarshan Venu, has been out thrashing it round a private track in the UK. And if that's not a green light for excitement, we don't know what is.

V4 TRICOLORE: NEXT-LEVEL...

If the RC30 is the epitome of smoothness and refinement, the Panigale is the very definition of violence and overwhelming levels of performance. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t refined or unsophisticated because it is all of those things, which — on the road, at least — is one of its greatest tricks... out of many.
