If Sachin is god of cricket, we can easily call MS Dhoni as godfather of Team India. After retirement of legendary players, he continued to lead Team India with an example. He was guiding his boys, often giving them tips to succeed in international cricket. After realizing that his captaincy role was over, he first vacated Test captaincy, paving way for Virat Kohli to take over from him. The retirement from Test cricket helped him to focus on shorter formats. In the ODIs and T20 internationals, he knew a lot was left in him so his main focus turned on batting, giving up captaincy in these formats as well. To Team India’s luck, he decided against taking retirement, becoming godfather of team.
