Rose Porteous: I Waited 27 Years To Marry The Love Of My Life!

It’s fourth time lucky for Lang Hancock’s widow, who finally got the wedding she’s always wanted.

Having just turned 70 years old, Rose Hancock Porteous is literally dancing for joy, with some exciting news to tell.

“I’ve just got married!” she says doing a celebratory flamenco twirl.

Yes, the famously colourful Perth celebrity has tied the knot in her native Philippines with William Porteous, her partner of nearly 27 years.

“It was one of the happiest days of my life. I felt like a nervous little girl on the big day,” says the widow of mining mogul Lang Hancock of her emotional church wedding on October 6.

The couple kept their big day private – Aussie friends who came over to toast Rose’s milestone birthday three weeks later were surprised with a video of the entire wedding.

“She was a beautiful bride... Rose is always beautiful,” Willie tells Woman’s Day at their Perth home.

Willie, who was first introduced to Rose by Lang, admits he was “a little teary” as he clapped eyes on his ever-glamorous bride, who said “I do” in a designer Spanish cream silk frock encrusted with emerald-cut gemstones.

“When I first saw Willie standing there in his Valentino suit and dark shades, his mouth quivering as he tried not to cry, I protested, ‘Why are you looking like a cocaine drug baron?

Get those glasses off!’” Rose recalls.
