Retailers will give you cash, gift cards and other bonuses for bringing them a wide assortment of items that they can recycle for you

Get paid to get rid of your closet clutter!

You probably already know that some major clothing retailers (like Eileen Fisher, H&M and Madewell) offer store credit when you bring in your used clothes to recycle. Well, next time you’re shopping at a smaller clothing chain or an independently owned apparel store, check if they have a recycling program that offers rewards too. More and more are offering discounts to customers to help reduce textile waste. For example, you can get paid for recycling bras! Subset organic cotton underwear (WearSubset.com) gives you up to $20 in store credit when you mail in your old bras, socks and other undergarments using a free shipping label. Another option: Order a “Take Back Bag” from Trashie at App.Trashie.io for $20. Stuff it with unwanted clothing in any condition, then mail it back using a prepaid shipping label. In return, you’ll get $50 in “TrashieCash” to spend at stores like The Body Shop, Lululemon and Zappos.

The Mary Tyler Moore SHOW

From That Girl in the 1960s to Ally McBeal in the 1990s to Sex and the City in the 2000s, television has long reflected the shifting image of independent women. Yet the true game-changer came in 1970, when The Mary Tyler Moore Show introduced Mary Richards—30, single, stylish and making her way in a newsroom full of men. Rather than being someone’s wife or daughter, she was the star, and she changed television forever. Join us for a look back at rare behind-the-scenes photos of the groundbreaking show as we celebrate its 55th anniversary.

Happy money, happy holidays

The holidays are here (yay!), and with them comes both joy and, let's be honest, stress. For many of us, the shopping lists, entertaining costs or the ache of an empty chair at the table can dim the sparkle of the season. If that's you, please accept my wishes that the days land lightly.
