DYSLEXIA DAYS
New Zealand Woman's Weekly
|November 06, 2023
Henry Winkler - aka The Fonz - was the coolest guy on the small screen in the 1970s and '80s. But the Happy Days star says he was riddled with self-doubt during his years at the top.
-
From the moment he first shucked on The Fonz's leather jacket in the beloved sitcom, he suffered from crippling anxiety because he struggled to read the words to the script - and it wasn't until he was 31 that he discovered he had dyslexia.
The actor recently released his memoir, Being Henry: The Fonz... and Beyond, detailing his humiliating childhood, in which his German parents referred to him as "dummer hund", meaning "dumb dog", due to his undiagnosed learning difficulties.
