WHEN DANIELA SOTO-INNES announced on Instagram in 2020 that she was leaving the acclaimed New York City restaurants Cosme and Atla, it came as a surprise to many in the food world. Her innovative approach to modern Mexican food had won her a Rising Star Chef of the Year award from the James Beard Foundation, and she was the youngest recipient and first Mexican chef to win a World's Best Female Chef award from the World's 50 Best Restaurants. But for Soto-Innes, it was time to move on.
Or, rather, move back.
