Advancing Open Networking: Highlights from SONIC India Workshop 2025
Open Source For You
|October 2025
SONIC (Software for Open Networking in the Cloud) is an open source network operating system built on Linux, designed to run on a wide range of hardware switches.
-
Originally developed by Microsoft, it is now hosted and governed by the Linux Foundation under the SONiC community project. SONiC’s modular architecture enables flexible integration of networking capabilities, making it a highly scalable and vendor-neutral solution for modern cloud and enterprise data centres.
The SONiC India Workshop, sponsored by the Linux Foundation, has been hosted annually since 2023 at Microsoft’s IDC campus in Hyderabad. Over the past three years, it has brought together global presenters from diverse domains—including chip and switch manufacturers, SONiC adopters, telecom/cloud service providers. The workshop serves as a collaborative forum where participants share how they leverage SONIC to accelerate network growth, simplify operations, and contribute to the ecosystem or drive future advancements in SONiC.
Sonic India Workshop 2025The SONiC India Workshop 2025 marked another successful edition of this annual event, bringing together 28 presenters from 15 distinguished organizations across the globe.
The diverse lineup of participants featured leading organizations such as BE Networks, Cisco, Nexthop AI, Dell, Google, Aviz Networks, PALC Networks, Broadcom, Upscale AI, Arista, Keysight, Red Hat, Juniper/HPE, Marvell Networks, and NPCI, reflecting SONiC’s truly global and cross-domain reach. The workshop has also seen remarkable growth since its inception in 2023—while the first edition featured around 10 speakers and 80-100 participants, this year’s workshop recorded a vibrant footfall of over 180 attendees, underscoring The rapidly increasing interest and engagement within the SONiC community.Diese Geschichte stammt aus der October 2025-Ausgabe von Open Source For You.
