APPLE TO ASSEMBLE MAC MINI IN HOUSTON AS U.S. MANUFACTURING FOOTPRINT EXPANDS

Apple is preparing to shift part of its Mac mini production to Houston, marking another step in its effort to expand U.S.-based manufacturing.

The company said it will begin assembling select Mac mini units at a facility operated by Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. in north Houston later in 2026, converting roughly 220,000 square feet of warehouse space into dedicated production lines.

The move is part of Apple's broader $600 billion U.S. investment commitment announced last year amid rising tariff pressure and political scrutiny over overseas manufacturing. While the majority of Mac hardware production still takes place in Asia, the Houston expansion signals a gradual diversification strategy that aligns manufacturing more closely with domestic demand.

Chief Executive Tim Cook emphasized the company's long-term position in American manufacturing, stating that Apple is “deeply committed to the future of American manufacturing” and highlighting the Houston buildout as a significant expansion of its U.S. footprint.
