GOALS in either half from Macauley Bonne and Gus Scott-Morriss helped Southend United take derby honours over local rivals Dagenham & Redbridge at Victoria Road.
Former Charlton, QPR and Ipswich striker Bonne fired the Shrimpers in front just before half-time from Charley Kendall's cut-back- his first goal for the club.
And Kevin Maher's men sealed the win midway through the second half as Gus Scott-Morriss scored his 11th league goal of the season from Oli Coker's free-kick.
"The timing of the goals was really good and they had a lot of the ball in their half," Maher said. "We made it count when Bonne got his goal, it gave everyone a lift.
"I think Macauley has been frustrated as anyone, but you can see the work rate he's had to lead the line which he's done so well. He's done it this season and he hasn't got the goals he wanted - a real handful for defenders. I was delighted he's got his rewards."
