The Blue singer on signing an autograph for Gazza and scoring a worldie in front of Lee Trundle in a celebrity game
What was the first match you ever attended?
My dad took me to Ossie Ardiles' testimonial in May 1986, when Diego Maradona played, before the Hand of God goal happened. He was in the team with Glenn Hoddle and there was debate over who would wear No.10. In the end they both wore it and that was right, as they were both top players. I don't really remember that game, but the first game I do remember was Watford at home in the League Cup in 1994. Darren Anderton got injured and from then on got the nickname 'Sicknote' because he was always out injured, which was a bit unfair as he played a lot of games for Spurs.
Do you have a matchday routine?
I loved my routine at the old White Hart Lane because I saw the same people, the same faces, sat in the Park Lane End where I used to watch - it was like a big family. Everyone sat around each other and used to say, "Hello mate, how was your week?" I remember one experience at home to Chelsea, after Blue became big. When I'm at Spurs, I'm not Antony Costa from Blue, I'm Antony Costa the Spurs fan who shouts and swears. We were losing at the time when this one guy turned around and started asking, "So, Blue making new music any time soon?" And I had to say, "Do you mind if we have a chat at halftime, I'm trying to watch the game and we're losing." I love people wanting to have a photo or a chat with me - I'll do that all day long - just not when I'm watching football.
Who was your childhood hero?Paul Gascoigne. I didn't see a lot of him live because when he was playing for Spurs, I was living in Cyprus. But I loved the way he could turn a game on its head. You'd be losing 1-0, and who did you turn to? Gazza - he'll win you a game 2-1 with five minutes of magic. I have met him. We did a show called
