HOW TO...SHOOT LANDSCAPES WHEN TRAVELLING

Travel photographer Thibault Gerbaldi captures visual stories that explore the bond between people and their environment. He is fascinated by the tension between nature's fleeting grandeur and the resilience of human cultures. From Greenland’s collapsing icebergs to the Himba pastoral communities of Namibia, Gerbaldi’s work captures the fragility of nature and the strength of those who inhabit it. Whether documenting alpaca farmers in the Andes or the last tribes of Ethiopia, his photography blends emotional depth with cultural storytelling and technical curiosity. He works exclusively with Leica equipment, favouring the SL3 for travel and landscapes and the Q2 for more spontaneous or street-focused work.

imageThibault Gerbaldi is a self-taught French photographer whose work has received international recognition. In 2024, he won the Rising Talent Award from Travel Photographer of the Year and was named one of AAP Magazine's Emerging Talents to Watch.

His photography has earned him first prize in the International Travel Photography Awards and the runners-up position at PX3 and the Fine Art Photography Awards.

He has exhibited in Paris, Venice, Rome, Los Angeles and Miami, and his work has been featured in various photography magazines such as Leica Fotografie International and Lens Magazine.

Gerbaldi also serves on the board of The Forgotten International, a non-profit organisation dedicated to alleviating global poverty.
