AI-powered software that manages, sorts and culls your images

- Dan Mold

Excire Foto 2025

£199/$199 (new); £69/$69 (upgrade)

Excire claims that its Foto 2025 software can provide 'flawless photo management' using powerful built-in AI to find and cull images. New features for this latest version include the ability to analyse video clips, face-tagging using AI to quickly find images of specific people in your collection, and the implementation of Al-powered culling to root out your best shots based on how sharp they are, whether subjects have their eyes open or are smiling, and also using Excire’s own aesthetic score which it applies to each and every photo you analyse, along with adding keywords.

imageInterface and usability

The interface will feel familiar to anyone upgrading from Excire Foto 2024; for anyone new to the software, it’s easy to navigate and use. Launch the application and a comprehensive 12-step guided walkthrough with accompanying images runs you through the interface and shows you how to use its core features.

The interface doesn't feel complicated or cluttered but that's partly because there's no ability to edit photos. Excire is purely an organisational tool and keeps things clean and simple. The first step is to add your folders to its database before you can begin. The end goal is to analyse all of the photos in your library, although this can take some time.

The program offers seven search options, including text prompt, GPS, duplicates, keyword, faces, people and similar photos. An interesting feature of the Find By Text Prompt function is that it scans your images to come up with an analysis, so it doesn't rely on keywords. This is less limiting than the conventional method of searching by keywords that you might do in other photo software.
