Athwenna Irons explains why the organisers of the Christow Show are proud to make the most of the village celebration marking its 100th anniversary this month

Event at heart of local rural community reaches landmark

CENTENARY celebrations will be flowing in the Teign Valley when the Christow Show marks its 100th anniversary this month.

The much-loved village event, first held in 1925, has become a major fixture in the local calendar, highlighting the “variety and culture of country living” with a “strong sense of community” at its heart.

Organised by the Christow and District Agricultural and Horticultural Society, this year’s special milestone renewal will be held on Saturday, August 16, in Christow - located in Teignbridge, Devon.

Show secretary, Jan Deane, said such a long heritage is testimony to the “many individuals who have their time voluntarily to keep the ethos of the show alive and well throughout the years”.
