Wells do enough to reach the play-offs
Wells Journal
|April 24, 2025
WELLS City have scraped through to the Division One play-offs on goal difference after goals late on in either half proved enough to overcome Radstock Town 2-0 on Easter Monday.
-
Needing to match Longwell Green Sports’ result on the day, with an eight-goal advantage in hand, a nervy first half was settled somewhat when Jake Brown fired in the opener for Wells on 44 minutes.
The second period continued to be a tense affair, with Longwell edging a 2-1 win over Cadbury Heath. Jubilation was met at the Athletic Ground with four minutes to play though when substitute Jake Curtis made it 2-0 to secure that final play-off spot. Ross McErlain was named Wells’ man of the match.
Wells scored twice in the first half on Good Friday to get past Cheddar.
An early free-kick from Wells was easily stopped by Cheddar goalkeeper Taylan Ross-Greek. Wells were continuing to cause problems down the flanks and they also caught Ross-Greek out with a long-range effort which eventually sailed harmlessly wide.
