Disruption as work to upgrade gas pipes brings major road closures

COMMUTERS and residents in Wells are bracing for disruption as the final stage of a gas pipe upgrade begins this month, bringing major road closures to the city.

Wales & West Utilities will commence the second and final phase of its work in the Queen Street area from Monday, July 7, with the project expected to finish by Friday, August 8, barring any engineering complications.

‘The company started the upgrade in March and worked with Somerset Council to ensure the timing of this latest phase avoids clashing with major events in the area.
