AI cameras aim to increase safety at crash hotspot

ASOMERSET crash hotspot is getting ‘Al cameras in a bid to stop dangerous driving.

‘The state-of-the-art cameras will be stationed on the A361 Frome Bypass - and are said to be able to detect drivers using mobile phones and not wearing seatbelts.
‘The road has seen six fatalities in the last five years - four of these between 2023 and 2024.
Avon and Somerset Police and Somerset Council's Road Safety Teams are working in partnership to try to reduce serious collisions on the road, used by about 15,000 vehicles a day.
‘They say the trial of the Al cameras is part of ongoing road safety measures.
It is proposed that those caught on camera driving unsafely on the A361 will receive a warning letter and “educational materials to help them improve their behaviour behind the wheel’
