Inmate found dead in prison

A 46-YEAR-OLD man jailed for theft and drug offences died days later in prison, an inquest heard.

Steven Dean Sargeant, known to most as Dean, died in his cell at HMP Swansea on December 21, 2022, his inquest at Swansea Coroners' Court was told.

Llanelli-born Mr Sargeant, a gifted footballer who played for Swansea City's development sides as a youngster, had a history of alcohol and substance misuse and ended up homeless and in and out of prison, the inquest heard.
