TP Hughes Ltd, a familiar name on Tenby’s high street for generations, will close in March 2026.

‘The announcement by owners and siblings Chris and Anna has prompted an outpouring of messages from customers and former staff, many of whom spoke of the store’s longstanding place in the community.

‘The business was founded on September 29, 1902, when TP Hughes opened his first shop at 12 High Street.

After training at William Owen, a large London department store, he returned to Pembrokeshire with fresh ideas and a focus on quality.

For the first 20 years he personally handled all buying, specialising in linens and soft furnishings.
