Doctor Who's future 'out of my hands' – producer

THE future of Doctor Who now hangs in the balance, with its fate resting squarely "between the BBC Studios and Disney+", according to the show's producer.

Jane Tranter has broken her silence amid mounting speculation surrounding the direction of the beloved sci-fi series.

The BBC has confirmed the programme will return "with or without" its co-production and distribution agreement with Disney, though no concrete details have emerged regarding when or in what format the next series will materialise.

In an interview with Broadcast, the executive producer and Bad Wolf production company founder made it clear the decision about the show’s future lies beyond her control.

Jane said: "What will happen next is between the BBC Studios and Disney+and Bad Wolf certainly won't be the first to know. I take responsibility for lots of things but gloriously, on this occasion, that one is out of my hands."
