Maresca loves final-day pressure: Saving Palermo from drop in 2016 silenced his doubters back then, too

- BY PAUL BROWN

ENZO MARESCA is looking out for a final-day hero to deliver - just like he did for Palermo in 2016.

Back then the Chelsea boss was playing in midfield for the struggling Serie A side.

And he scored a pivotal second-half goal to help them beat Verona 3-2 - a result that saved Palermo from relegation.

Now, his Blues stars are dreaming of following in his footsteps at Nottingham Forest - by scoring the Chelsea goal that clinches Champions League football.

Maresca said: "In the second half of the last game for Palermo, I scored the goal. We finished good!

"My players, I think they all dream about that. To be the one that scores the goal and we finish in the Champions League.

"It was a little bit of a different situation for me at that time at Palermo because I was training apart for the last three or four months of that season.
