I was just terrified when my fiancée got breast cancer

Ex-soldier Leanne, 29 - who won the hit BBC One show last month alongside Jake Brown says the couple's two-year-old twins kept them focused.

She admitted: "We both said if we hadn't had them, life would have been dark. They kept us going."

Fellow army recruit Sophie, 32, discovered a tiny lump in her breast last May while she was in the shower.

Two weeks later, when it had grown markedly bigger, her GP referred her for a hospital appointment.

What doctors had hoped was just a benign cyst was confirmed a week later to be an aggressive, fast-growing HER2positive grade 3 breast cancer.

Sophie began chemotherapy within a week.

imageBut Leanne says the two-week wait for scan results - to see whether Sophie's cancer had spread felt like an out-of-body experience.

And she says Sophie's biggest fear was for their twins, Hudson and Harley.

She said: "We didn't know if she'd live.

"It was terrifying. Sophie was saying every day, 'I don't want to die, Leanne - I want to see our babies grow up."

Sophie told OK magazine: "I didn't know whether I'd go for the results and hear, 'You've got six months to live™.

Originally meant to have six chemo sessions, Sophie had only five as her body could not tolerate the last one.

And with each session leaving her bed-bound, Sophie felt guilty about Leanne being left to deal with childcare and everything else at home.
