United effort can help us to pick up maximum haul, insists Moore

DARREN Moore is ready to take Port Vale's challenge against Plymouth Argyle head on as he searches for the club's fourth win of the season.

- Clive Youlton

The Valiants manager is fully aware of his own position too and is hoping his side can start on the front foot, today, and go a goal up early in the lunchtime showdown (12.30pm) live on Sky.

And Moore laid down a challenge to Vale fans, saying they can help the team get three long-overdue points as they take on League One's bottom club.

"They [fans] can play a huge part," said Moore in his pre-match press conference. "We have got a choice now. They can either come in with the right mindset and get behind the team or not get behind the team.

"To get behind the team is the one we are all calling for, myself and the players. I keep saying when Vale Park is vocally loud it's a special place to be in. "The hard thing is, when it's not going so well, it's when we need the support."

He added: "It's really easy when you're winning games and you are going for promotion and the support is there. When it's not going too well that's the bit where you rarely get tested."
