Football venue splashes out £815k on new padel courts

Small-sided soccer site expands offer to racket sports
A FOOTBALL centre is branching out into new sports - by spending £815k on four new racket courts.
Work has started at Powerleague’s Stoke Trentham Lakes club on new canopied courts for padel - the fast-growing sport which is similar to tennis.
It adds to its existing range of facilities which include five-a-side and seven-a-side 3G football pitches, floodlights, changing rooms, free onsite parking, bar and a function room for events.
The courts are expected to open in February.
John Gillespie, chief executive officer at Powerleague, said: “We're really excited to be bringing padel to our Stoke Trentham Lakes club, giving more people the chance to try out this fantastic sport.
