AQUA farmers are caught in distress following the 26 percent tariff imposed by the United States, pushing the aquaculture sector in the Godavari districts into turmoil.
Aqua farmers are agitating for intervention from the Centre and State governments to save them from declaring an aqua holiday.
Farmers from Palakollu, Achanta and Narasapuram have declared an aqua holiday for the next three months—July, August and September. Meanwhile, farmers from Bhimavaram, Undi and other areas in the erstwhile West Godavari district are planning to announce the aqua holiday shortly.
