WASHINGTON: Technology often makes our lives easier, but a new report finds robots and automation is threatening to take over millions of jobs.
A report by Brookings Institution said that about 36 million Americans hold jobs with "high exposure" to automation — which means at least 70 per cent of their work could be soon performed by machines using current technology.
According to the report by the Washington-based think tank, those most likely to be affected are cooks, waiters and others in food services; shorthaul truck drivers; and clerical office workers.
