WHY ZARA LARSSON'S HEART IS IN STOCKHOLM

Top-tier cuisine, an awesome club scene — and you can take in all the sights on a scooter. No wonder the singer loves trips back to her home city

What is your favourite destination and why?
Stockholm is just so beautiful. I have spent a lot of time there because it’s where I'm from, but the older I get and the more time I spend away from it, the more I appreciate going back, and seeing the architecture and being so close to nature.
It’s built on different islands, so you're always close to water. I love to cycle around or get a scooter. And it’s not too big, so you could drive, or walk the north to the south, the east to the west very quickly, but it also just has everything you could want — fashion, restaurants — I'm never missing out on anything when I'm there.
When were you last there and who were you with?
In summertime for work — it’s the best time of year to visit. Between the light, the weather and the people, it’s when it comes alive. I was shooting a campaign for my underwear brand Main Rose, and I was rehearsing for my tour. I used to say Sweden is my place to chill, but if I have to work there’s a lot of really good creative talent in Stockholm — musicians, designers, photographers, so if I do need to shoot something or do something for my show, it's fine because I get to work with them.
Where do you like to stay?
A place called Ett Hem in the east, which translates to “at home”. The vibe doesn't feel very hotel-y — it’s just like visiting someone who has impeccable taste in everything. The interior design is beautiful and the kitchen will make you just what you ask for. It has a hammam in the basement, which you can book just for yourself. Everything is top-tier. There's also a beautiful garden and a greenhouse you can sit in.

The hidden tragedies of Wilde's legacy
The story of Oscar Wilde after his trial for gross indecency in 1895 and his subsequent imprisonment in Reading Gaol was, said George Bernard Shaw, comedy rather than tragedy, given the hero's invincible spirit.
