Gastro pub favoured by stars moves up rankings

TWO North East pubs have climbed the list of the UK’s Top 50 Gastropubs - with one of them moving into the top 10.

The Rat Inn, in Anwick, not far from Hexham, finished in eighth place in the awards, which were announced this week.
The Rat is no stranger to the list, which is seen as a respected guide of the best places to go for a bite to eat, great food and a warm welcome right across the UK. But what is more impressive about its inclusion in the rankings from Estrella Damm this year, is that it has climbed from 20th place a year ago.
