The youngsters were beaten 3-2 by Manchester United at Old Trafford and Lynch highlighted key lessons to be learned on the night.
The dramatic match showed the Black Cats' quality and the head coach was quick to pick out the positives after he felt pride in the team's display.
Sunderland pushed their hosts all the way in a pulsating quarterfinal tie. Second-half goals from Tom Proctor and Felix Scott turned the game on its head after Noah Ajayi's opener, but late strikes from Chido Obi and Junior Brown ultimately sealed victory for Manchester United.
