Teen boxer backed with new deal

Callum Dan

Callum Dan has signed with Marine Pro Boxing, who have offices in both the UK and Mumbai in India, with the aim of funding his further development until he can fight professionally in the UK when he turns 18.

Professional boxers are only licensed in the UK after they turn 18, but Callum made a flying start to his boxing career by instead turning pro under the Thai Boxing Federation, which licences boxers aged 15 and over.

The 16-year-old, who trains at Intense ABC in Honicknowle alongside European and Commonwealth champion Constantin Ursu among others, became the youngest Asian Boxing Federation champion after winning the ABF Middleweight title in November last year.

Despite having only completed his GCSE exams last year, Callum has now signed a deal with Marine Pro Boxing which is designed to accelerate his development and will see him fight in Asia three or four times a year.
