Cleverley wants more intensity from his Pilgims

TOM Cleverley pointed to a lack of intensity from Plymouth Argyle as the reason for their first half struggles in the preseason game away to Truro City, which they eventually went on to win 3-2.

The Pilgrims were second best to their newly-promoted National League hosts before the break, and had it not been for a couple of very good saves from trialist goalkeeper Luca Ashby-Hammond then Truro could have had more goals than just a superb 35th minute strike from Lirak Hasani which put them 1-0 up.

Argyle had seemed set to go in at halftime with a one-goal deficit until time when Truro defender Will Dean turned a low cross from Bim Pepple into his own net and it was all square again.

Brendan Galloway was a halftime substitute for Jack MacKenzie at left-back and Cleverley made a further eight changes in the 62nd minute, with two of those players - Bradley Ibrahim and Caleb Watts - scoring the goals which saw a much-improved Argyle come out on top, despite a reply from a Truro trialist.

Ashby-Hammond and central defender Kornel Szucs were the only two Argyle players who played from start to finish at the Truro City Stadium, in front of a sold-out crowd of 2,725.
